Paul Signac (* 11. November 1863 in Paris; † 15. August 1935 ebenda) war ein französischer Maler und Grafiker und neben Georges Seurat der bedeutendste Künstler des Neo-Impressionismus bzw. Pointillismus. Als Künstler war Signac ein Autodidakt. Sein künstlerisches Vorbild waren zunächst Claude Monet und die Impressionisten.

Signac, who was both intelligent and well-read, was influenced heavily by modern theories on optics and color as well as by the work of the Impressionists, who were on the cutting edge of artistic innovation when he was a teenager and young man in the Parisian bohemian neighborhood of Montmartre.
